This is the blog of a woman artist exploring the representation of one of the most persistent of human obsession, the pussy.

Manuela's manual is an illustrated instruction manual explaining in details how to make a realistic, life size and very sensuous plaster sculpture of a vulva; a fun, easy and sexy art project for playful couples.

Process

This page illustrates the pussy casting process. This is fairly easy, quick and completely safe.

First, a batch of alginate needs to be mixed.

The alginate paste is then applied directly over the model's skin.

Once done, some cotton wool is embedded in the alginate.

Wet plaster bandages are then laid over the alginate.

As you can see, the pose is confortable and my model is enjoying a glass of pinot gris while I am working on her.

You have spend about 15 minutes so far. Once the plaster has set, you can remove the mold.

The mold comes off easily and your model can now have a shower to clean herself of any plaster drips. ( no photos of my model having a shower, sorry.)

In the meantime you mix a batch of plaster of paris and paint it inside the negative mold.

Once the plaster has cured, about 2 hours later, you can rip the mold to reveal an amazingly realistic reproduction of her vulva.  Use a saw to cut it to shape.

and voila!

The perfectly indecent and deliciously rude portrait of a pussy.

This seems easy enough but many questions are raised? what is alginate? where do you buy it? how much of it is needed, how do you mix it? should the water be cold or warm? will pubic hair be a problem? how thick should the mold be? How many layers of plaster bandages are required.?
Manuela's manual answers all these questions and gives many more tips and hints to ensure that your project is a success at the firts attempt.
Manuela's manual lists many online stores around the world where to buy the necessary material.
Manuela's manual also demonstrates the use of alternative to alginate (Silicon rubber) and to plaster of paris (resin)
